What colors does the CamelBak Bottle come in?

First-time use: What’s the blue(or black) thing for? Do I remove it to drink?

The blue (or black) thing is the CamelBak Big Bite Valve. Do NOT remove this piece to drink. Simply bite it slightly and sip as you would out of a straw.

What happens if I put sports drinks/juice/alcohol in the CamelBak Bottle?

Use of any of these drinks in the bottle is fine, but thorough cleaning after each use is recommended (thorough cleaning is outlined in question #1 under cleaning).

Are there any beverages that cannot be used in the CamelBak Bottle?

You can use any beverage in the CamelBak Bottle, however we do not recommend the use of carbonated beverages. Due to the construction of the bottle (and the possibility of creating a pressurized environment inside of it), using carbonated beverages in the CamelBak bottle can sometimes create a similar experience to opening a can of soda that has been shaken up repeatedly. If you want to use carbonated beverages with the CamelBak Bottle, we recommend that you remove the straw and drink via “tip and sip”.

Can/How do I freeze the CamelBak Bottle?

You can freeze the bottle but make sure:

• The bottle is not completely full when you do this (we recommend only 3/4 full to allow for expansion of the water as it freezes to ice).
• The bottle is right side up

We also recommend that the bite valve stem NOT be flipped up or down if there is any frozen water in the tube. Wait until thawed.

Does the CamelBak Bottle work with filters?

The CamelBak Bottle is compatible with filters that adapt to a 63 mm screw top opening.

What happens if I take the straw off?

Removal of the straw allows a “tip and sip” mode of drinking.

What max temperature (freezing/boiling water) can the CamelBak bottle withstand?

The CamelBak Bottle can withstand boiling water or below freezing temperatures.

Can I use the CamelBak Bottle in high-altitude/ low-pressure environments? (i.e. airplanes, mountain altitudes, etc)

Yes, but with special care. Fill only about ¾ full and keep the bottle right side up with the bite valve in the closed position. Remove the straw for additional protection. Expect a bit of “spurt” during the first sip.

Can I recycle the CamelBak Bottle?

Yes – all the materials in the bottle are recyclable, however some municipal recyclers do not have the capability to recycle the polycarbonate in our bottles.

My bottle seems to be leaking, what should I do?

First, invert to locate the location of the leak, then if leaking from:

• The cap/bottle seal: check for foreign objects on the seal. Clean, tighten and recheck
• The bite valve: check for any foreign matter in the bite valve by removing and cleaning. Replace valve on stem and recheck
• The vent valve: remove cap and clean underneath the valve, taking care not to damage the vent valve in the process. Replace cap and recheck.

Is the CamelBak Bottle safe (or safe to use with children)?

The bottle is not recommended for use by children under the age of 5. The bite valve can come off and become a choking hazard, especially for children under the age of 36 months.

Why is there a metal screw in the cap? Will it rust?

The metal screw is used to fasten the handle to the cap. The handle takes a substantial load to support almost 2 lbs of water and plastic. With its durable, stainless steel construction, the screw is rust-free.

How much does the CamelBak Bottle weigh?

Where can I get replacement parts/accessories for the Bottle?

Replacement bite valves, straws, and caps will be available in the same stores that sell the bottle.

My straw won’t stay on anymore! What do I do?

Dip the end of the straw into boiling water, remove, and let cool. The straw will go back to its original size.

What is the warranty on the CamelBak Bottle and/or its parts/accessories?

The CamelBak Bottle has 2 year warranty which protects against manufacturer’s defects
